(ALPINE, CA - January 4, 2005) On Tuesday January 4 , 2005, Vice Chairman Michael Garcia of the Ewiiaapaayp Band of Kumeyaay Indians presented 142 Ty © Buddie Bears to Rose and Kimberly Urdahl for their Komfort for Kids program.

Rose and Kimberley collect "huggables" for those children who are in area hospitals and are away from family and home due to illness. Rose and her 15-year old daughter Kimberly collect donations of teddy bears for kids and angel bears for parents who lose a child. Rose and Kimberly hand-deliver the new best friends to children who desperately need something cheerful. The Vice Chairman Garcia said the Ewiiaapaayp Band tribal members lined up all the teddy bears in the Tribal office and asked each one to be lovable and huggable for their new little friends. Last year the Ewiiaapaayp Tribe donated 100 bears.

Unwrapped, soft teddy bears donated to Komfort for Kids may be dropped off at Alpine Kiwanis meetings on Saturday at the Alpine Elementary School between 7am and 8:30am, at the Alpine Community Center or at the Alpine Chamber of Commerce.
